A Suddenly Fem Review of Contestants on RuPaul Drag Race Season 3. What's Drag Without The Lip Liner and Hair Spray?!

There are so many levels of crossdressing this day in age. The most outrageous, well known and actually, generally accepted is the drag queen. Made popular by the queen herself, RuPaul. Breaking into the scene in the early 90s, The RuPaul show was a hit. It wasn't just a drag show; it was a talk show that captivated the curious audience. For years it seemed that Ms. RuPaul fell off the face of the earth, and then she came back more fabulous than a man (most of the time)! RuPaul Drag Race is into its third season. The contestants this season are larger than life and more fabulous than ever. I sat down to watch the casting and I wanted to share my thoughts with you on this season's contestants and hear back from anyone else that viewed the program.

Contestant #1: Manila; I've got to say she gives Kimora Lee Simons a run for her money! Dating a former contestant I feel as though she's got some insider insight that most contestants won't have. Her makeup and outfits are fierce and seems like she's definitely the life of the party.

Contestant #2: Carmen; Carmen is from good old New Jersey--not to associated with MTV's Jersey Shore, but has enough personality to be on that hit show. Her masculine to feminine transformation is absolutely uncanny and I've got to give her a ton of credit for that.

Contestant #3: Raja; The famous name dropper...oops I mean makeup artist. This diva comes with an attitude and apparently a hatred of bigger girls. I'm sure the drama will ensue if the big girls drag this queen down.

Contestant #4: India Farrah; With a name like that you'd expect an ethnic queen...just the opposite! Out of drag he could be the most stereotypical Midwestern, down home, football watching beef jerky eating boy in town. She started young which I think may give her an edge.

Contestant #5: MiMi; The self proclaimed "fat bitch that delivers". I personally think that she will live up to this name. Spunky, shapely and spontaneous, MiMi will be quite the contender. I see MiMi and Raja getting into a cat fight.

Contestant #7: Stacy Lane; I like to call Stacy the Aretha Franklin of drag--it was the first thing that came to mind when she auditioned. Growing up in the Bible Belt, this diva has had some already faced serious scrutiny for her diva lifestyle, so I think that this queen will be in the game for a bit.

Contestant #7: Yara Sofia; A cross between Lady GaGa and Rico Suave, this Puerto Rico native got her drag name from a girl in school with knockout legs. Don't worry, her legs live up to the name! This queen is a pro at lip syncing, so I think she's got an in.

Contestant #8: Pheonix; I've got to be honest; I don't even know how Pheonix made it. Couldn't even tell you a thing about her she was that memorable. I don't think this queen has enough charisma or charm to last till the end of this race.

Contestant #9: Venus D-light; I could go on for days! Absolutely my favorite and I think a front runner. Cyndi Lauper meets Madonna. Her upbeat attitude, spunk and pure talent will make her a diva to be reckoned with.

Contestant #10: Delta Work; I've gotta admit, she's a big girl with a great face and a sweetheart persona to match. I saw an ounce of bitch with a dash of class...I'm not sure if that will hold up in this competition but I’m still rooting for her.

Contestant #11: Alexis; I was so impressed when Alexis graced the screen. I'm coining her the Kim Kardashian of drag. So much booty, such great face and as passable as they come…I hope her talent lives up to those good looks!

Contestant #12: Mariah; Mariah is a Georgia peach who doesn't necessarily have a history of drag. She is a ballroom dancer, not a drag performer so I am not sure how that will pan out for her in the end. Cute face, sweet personality and can clearly dance so she could be someone to watch out for.

Overall, I have to say that this season's contestants have brought the lip liner, hair, eye shadow and personalities to a new level. What's drag without the dramatics? I think these contestants will have their work cut out for them to see who wins this race. After all, they have to impress the original queen herself, RuPaul. I've got my favorites and my what about you? Are you a fan of the show? Any drag queens out there? Who is your favorite? Share with us!

This show is addicting!

Soniao, I agree Delta is stunning and represents.

Marie, I don't know what it is about Raja, I may still be judging her on the casting. She just doesn't do it for me.

What does everyone think of Santino from Project Runway being a jusge? I loved him on Project Runway, he's always been feisty!
