How to Avoid a Corset Catastrophe By: Danielle at SuddenlyFem

I have been told by many of my clients at Suddenly Fem that the time that they feel the sexiest is while they are dressing. To me this makes perfect sense; you are freshly shaven and smooth, your makeup has been applied and the final step in your transformation is slipping into your favorite crossdressing outfit. In order to achieve a more feminine, curvaceous figure many cross dressing males turn to body foundations. These are undergarments that are designed specifically to mold your figure as well as minimize parts of the male anatomy. I find that more and more of my clients are looking for a new fashion forward approach to achieving that hourglass shape that is so deeply desired. The most functional, versatile and attractive solution for slimming your waist and looking stunning while doing so is wearing a corset. Here at Suddenly Fem we design all of our corsets exclusively to fit a man’s measurements, this includes our crossdressing corsets. Each of the corsets in our line are manufactured with metal boning to give the wearer ultimate support to effectively alter the male figure into that of a more feminine shape.

While corsets are undeniably sexy, the task of getting into one can seem quite daunting to most, especially when there isn’t an extra set of hands to assist. Contrary to popular belief, you can in fact, apply a corset with no additional help. Follow these easy steps to achieve the look you crave:

  • First and foremost, you want to start by loosening the strings in the back so that the corset opens to the size of your waist.
  • Next, pull the corset on you with the metal clasps that hook into the front. Start by hooking the first clasp at the bottom and work your way up. Be sure that all clasps are aligned properly and that each hook is going straight into the clasp.
  • When all clasps are set the next step is to locate the U strings from the center back of the corset. Grab the right side with your right hand, and the left side with your left. Give it a little tug to determine which U string controls the top strings and which controls the bottom. With this figured out you are going to want to make sure that each string is in its designated place, top on top—bottom on bottom.
  • At this point, you are going to want begin to pull the U strings out and forward. This process will start to make the corset smaller and smaller as it pulls the two back panels together.
  • When you feel comfortable with the tightness of the U, you can start alternating between the top and bottom until the fit in the back is closed to your desired placement. Sometimes it is best to pull both panels closer together at the point where you would like it a bit tighter. After doing this you can just work the excess length back to the center.
  • Finally, you can start to wrap the lacing around your body as many times as needed and then tie in a knot in the front (most people prefer a shoestring, bowlike knot). It is recommended for those of us who are dressing alone to tie the knot in the front so that it negates any problems we may have getting the corset off at the end of our night out.

As I said before, a good amount of my clients have told me that they feel the sexiest while getting dressed. There is no reason to feel like you are fumbling around while putting on a corset. This can be a process that you feel in the most utmost control; you are in command of of your figure and reshaping your body to what you want it to look like. Corsets are a great addition to any wardrobe and extremely functional. Lucky for all of you gurls out there, all styles that we carry are currently part of our Spring 2010 Sale, as well as our famous hiding gaffs which compliment any of our corsets. Be mindful that when purchasing a corset you want to go two to four inches smaller than your actual waist size.
