Even the stars Cross Dress!
It takes a real man to play a woman! Whether done for fun or to create a more profound impact on media and art, cross dressing stars are nothing new to Hollywood.
There have been many actors and actresses that have crossdressed at one time or another. Tom Hanks had a show called Bosom Buddies in the 80’s. The show was kind of silly and the clothes, wigs and shoes were all awful. Then who could forget Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire? While Dennis Rodman's public appearances in varying degrees of drag are well-documented. Even Mr. John Travolta himself cross dressed when he started as Edna Turnblad in the 2007 release of Hairspray!
Here are some more famous cross dressers:
Harvey Korman played a hefty Jewish mother character on The Carol Burnett Show.
Rudy Giuliani appeared on Saturday Night Live dressed as a woman.
Comedian Eddie Izzard describes himself as an "Executive Transvestite."
Herman Goering, commander of the Luftwaffe in WW II, was also a crossdresser and partial to silk nightwear.
King Henry III of France insisted on being considered a woman and addressed as "Her Majesty."
Tony Curtis supposedly wore women's clothing even after "Some Like It Hot."
Sportscaster Marv Albert, who it was revealed wore bras, panties, and garters and stockings under his suits!
And the man who might not have started it all, but is certainly most famous for his outlandish roles dressed in drag. Tim Curry has become an underground icon for his promiscuous role in the Rocky Horror Picture Show – a true cult classic.
